I had jacquesnapier who I follow on Twitter recommend James Moran’s blog called the pen is mightier than the spork. Specifically he pointed me to this post: The Big Writing FAQ. While I think Moran over estimates the simplicity of getting an agent because he had an easy time finding one (he only sent out letters to two agents), I think his basic message is spot on: write, rewrite, and then write some more. If you haven’t read this post you should check it out.
I’ve also added this blog to my RSS reader so I can continue to read what Moran has to say through his blog. I highly recommend that you do this too, and not just with Moran’s blog but with all screen writing blogs that you find interesting.
What screen writing blogs do you read? Post them in the comments section.
Thanks for the blog! Seems like the guy knows what he’s talking about!
I go to WILDsound Filmaking once in a while. They’re based out of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. They have a podcast I subscribe to. They also have festival where they give a full feedback on a screenplay from their committee of professional screenwriters, production heads and script consultants. I haven’t tried it, yet. If someone heard of it and did submit it, please let us know!

Thanks for the info I have a script completed and just mailed it today for coverage at OBS (Organization of Black Screenwriters) I’m hoping they’ll help me fix it up for their contest and submit it to their film contact (Overbrook Entertainment).
John August, of course.

And I’ve started following novice screenwriter Emily Blake…she posts every day, and the lolcats won me over.

I hope Emily keeps going, but it seems she’s only written one or two scripts…will she make the long haul?
Thanks for the shoutout, Eric. I have actually written about 8 screenplays and five teleplays and five short film scripts, but only this latest script is worthy enough to become a sale so it’s the only one I really talk about. I’ve been at this for about 8 years.
