A few weeks ago I was on Script Doctor Eric’s podcast called Scriptcast.

If you would like to listen to it you can do so by going to this link:

http://www.scriptdoctoreric.com/2011/06/subscribe-to-scriptcast-itunes.html

You can also search the iTunes store for “Scriptcast” and then download the issues for free. I’m in episode 11.

I had a really good time doing it so hopefully you’ll enjoy listening to it.

  1. I BEING A SCRIPT WRITER GIVE THIS IMPORTANT ADVISE TO ALL OTHER WRITERS TO PROTECT THEMSELVES FROM HAVING THEIR SCRIPTES STOLEN BY PEOPLE IN THE MOVIE INDUSTRY OF WHICH GOES ON EVERY DAY AND OVERLOOKED FOR ANYBODY TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT UNTIL EITS TO LATE WHAT I SUGEST IS FOR ALL WRITERS TO UNITE TO VOTE FOR A STIFF PENALTY TO THOSE PEOPLE WHO STEAL OTHER PEOPLES MOVIE AND T’V SCRIPTS I SUGEST THAT THE NEW RULE WOULD BE FOR ANY PERSON FOUND STEALING OTHER PEOPLES SCRIPTS SHOULD BE CHARGED 10 TIMES THE AMOUNT OF THE ROYALTYS PAID TO THE ORIGINAL WRITER OR WRITERS IT’S ABOUT TIME SOMETHING HAS TO BE DONE I’VE SPOKEN TO MANY PEOPLE THAT AGREE WITH ME ON THIS PLEASE TAKE THIS SERIOUSLY THANK YOU ALL FOR TAKING THE TIME TO THINK ABOUT PROTECTING YOURSELVES AFTER READING THIS

    1. Dave;

      You should always make sure you always protect your work. But I think overall theft of story ideas is a lot less common than new writers think. It really doesn’t make good business sense for producers to steal story ideas and then have to deal with a lawsuit later. It’s easy and cheap to protect your work and producers know that virtually every screenplay they read is going to be protected by the WGA or the Library of Congress.
